Rehabilitation alongside oncology care
The Loewenstein Rehabilitation Medical Center is home to the first and only dedicated oncological rehabilitation department in Israel.
Cancer and its treatments often lead to serious side-effects and a significant decline in physical function. These challenges are often accompanied by uncertainty, anxiety, depression and difficulty in maintaining a daily routine while coping with a complex medical condition.
Oncological rehabilitation, which can take place during or after treatments, offers a comprehensive and personalized response to a wide range of challenges faced by patients and their families.
Our multidisciplinary rehabilitation team — including physicians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, rehabilitation psychologists, social workers, and nurses – works together to improve patients’ physical, cognitive, verbal, and emotional functioning. This holistic approach is a vital part of the healing journey.
With your support, we provide oncology patients with a nurturing environment tailored to their unique needs. For example, we renovated the dining room to create a separate, safe space for patients with weakened immune systems, and established a warm and welcoming family room that allows loved ones to stay close and provide emotional support. In addition we offer complementary therapies such as medical massage to reduce pain, fatigue and weakness, and spiritual care to help patients cope with the uncertainty and vulnerability of both body and mind.
