Galloping to Recovery
The Loewenstein Rehabilitation Medical Center has pioneered a first-of-its-kind rehabilitation program involving pony-drawn carriages. These therapeutic sessions, designed for adults and children alike, take place on the Center’s lawns. The program combines familiar rehabilitation techniques with the healing power of nature. The positive impact on the patient is evident from their first encounter with the horse, the cart, the silence and the open space. This innovative therapy integrates elements from the fields of physiotherapy, occupational therapy and psychology, while boosting confidence, and providing a sense of control and movement for those with impaired mobility, along with calm and emotional release.
Each session is tailored to the patient’s needs: the cart accommodates use with or without a wheelchair, and is operated under the close supervision of a professional guide alongside the center’s rehabilitation team. This therapy, currently not included in the national health coverage, requires dedicated infrastructures, costly equipment, and extensive preparation by skilled professionals.
Your support will enable more patients to enjoy rare moments of freedom, empowerment, and joy on the path to recovery.
