The Friends of Loewenstein Rehabilitation Medical Center

Friends of Loewenstein Rehabilitation Medical Center supports the rehabilitation of civilians and soldiers by raising funds for essential equipment and services that promote optimal recovery.

The Loewenstein Rehabilitation Medical Center
Since its establishment in 1959, the Loewenstein Rehabilitation Medical Center has been on the forefront of rehabilitation medicine in Israel and is recognized as a global leader in this field. The center provides comprehensive, ongoing rehabilitation services to thousands of patients each year – including children, adolescents, and adults, both civilians and IDF soldiers – suffering from complex injuries such as head and spinal trauma, limb amputations, brain injuries; chronic neurological disorders, and injuries related to combat or traffic accidents. Additionally, the Center provides rehabilitation support for oncology patients undergoing active cancer treatments.

A Comprehensive Rehabilitation Package
Treatment at the Loewenstein Rehabilitation Medical Center is based on a holistic rehabilitation approach that views the person as a whole – body, mind, family, and community. In addition to advanced treatment in rehabilitation medicine, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, nutrition and more, patients receive an emotional, social, and educational support package. Children continue their studies and social activities at the Loewenstein School throughout their hospitalization period at the Loewenstein School; families are guided and supported by social workers and rehabilitation psychologists;  gyms and a variety of personalized complementary treatments are offered, providing physical and mental support throughout the challenging treatment process. Rehabilitation also includes guided work on life skills, reintegration into the community and regaining independence.

Medical and Academic Excellence
The center operates to the highest standards of safety, quality, and professionalism, and holds the prestigious International Joint Commission (JCI) accreditation, recognizing its compliance with strict, world-class procedures. The center is affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at Tel Aviv University and serves as a leading center for the clinical training of students in medicine, nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychology, and more.

The center’s researchers are at the forefront of rehabilitation research in Israel, participating in international collaborations, leading innovative clinical trials, and shaping the standards of rehabilitation care in Israel and around the world.

With Loewenstein being the leading rehabilitation medical center in Israel, the Loewenstein Academy for Rehabilitation was created for doctors and health professionals from Israel and around the world, focusing on training and teaching in all aspects of rehabilitation. The rehabilitation doctors at Loewenstein lead and support the establishment of multidisciplinary rehabilitation centers in the community, as well as rehabilitation and mobility services for half of the population of Israel. Thanks to expert teams working together through a multidisciplinary approach, and driven by a deep sense of mission, responsibility, and high professional standards, the center achieves outstanding rehabilitation outcomes and successfully treat even the most complex patients.

Friends of Loewenstein Rehabilitation Medical Center
The Friends of the Loewenstein Medical Rehabilitation Center, established in 1985, operates on a non-profit basis to raise resources for initiatives and programs not covered by public funding, including: unique rehabilitation programs, establishing innovative facilities, purchasing advanced equipment, and improving hospitalization conditions. In recent years, the Association has expanded its activities, especially in light of the need for long-term rehabilitation of wounded soldiers, other security forces and victims of terror. The Friends of Loewenstein Rehabilitation Medical Center works tirelessly to enable the Center to continue to lead rehabilitation medicine at the national level, and to provide every patient of any age with hope and the tools to regain a full and independent life, for themselves, and for the benefit of their families, and their communities.
